Pioneer BDP-LX52

Description:

If you live in NTSC country (USA, Canada, Japan) you will need a PAL TV or Multi System TV to watch PAL DVDs. PIONEER BDP-23FD ELITE AND EUROPENA BDP-LX52 are the same machines, ELITE has a 7.1 analog output and LX52 does not everything else is the same. With state of the art technologies that offer everything from an Advanced Picture Control Suite supported by 48-bit Deep Color and 1080p DVD upscaling, a spectacular picture is a given whether you're enjoying your current DVD library or the latest Blu-ray Disc title. Add to that 7.1 channel surround outputs powered by 4 Burr-Brown audio DACs and everything you hear is also equally impressive as well. With 2-Channel PQLS, jitter-free CD audio transmits flawlessly to any PQLS-equipped Pioneer receiver to deliver optimal sound. And there's even more with BD-Live. Like 1GB of internal memory so you can enjoy additional special disc content as well as the ability to download additional Internet-based content like movie trailers and games right out of the box. For those looking for an engaging and exciting home theater experience, the BDP-320 and its feature-rich package will do anything but disappoint. ALL REGION MULTI ZONE BLU RAY & DVD Pioneer's BDP-320 serves up the full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel surround sound for which Blu-ray Disc is known, and enhances it with HDMI Precision Quartz Lock jutterless transmission and a Picture Control Suite. Further, its 1GB of built-in memory, ethernet port, and BD-Live capability let you access bonus material, trailers, and online gaming and messaging (with a pre-existing internet connection and BD-Live-compatible discs). Pioneer's True24fps technology delivers your favorite movies with film-like fidelity, while HDMI output offers the most advanced audio and video connectivity available. Multi Region Code Free 1080p PIONEER BDP-23FD ELITE Blu-ray Disc player.

Design:

The BDP-LX52 may be pricey, but it doesn't exactly look all that flash. Although other vendors are starting to slim down their Blu-ray players, Pioneer has made little attempt to do so. The BDP-LX52 is quite tall at 83mm and is relatively wide measuring 420mm. The glossy black finish on the front and the central, ice-blue LED (dimmable from the remote) are appealing enough, but the overall look is quite conservative.

The player has a decent lineup of sockets, but a set of analog surround sound outputs is notably absent. This means that while the BDP-LX52 has inbuilt decoding capability for high-resolution surround sound such as DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus, you need to hook it up to an HDMI-enabled receiver to be able to take advantage of it.

What you do get on the connection front are HDMI, component- and composite-video outputs, along with optical digital and stereo audio connectors. There's also an Ethernet socket for connecting the player to the Internet so you can access interactive BD-Live content and a USB port for adding extra storage space.
